Mimobots Star Wars Series 4 Part 3

The final Mimobot designer USB flash drive in the Star Wars Series 4 collection was revealed today. It's a limited edition of 500 piece that will be available only at the San Diego Comic-Con this summer. To go along with the 2 Unmaskable Darth Vaders released in the regular series, this Vader looks just like the others but when you remove the helmet it reveals Luke from the scene on Dagobah in "The Empire Strikes Back" where he imagines himself within the Darth Vader suit. I'm not gonna lie, I think the Darth Vaders are a bit of a let down, but I think this is the coolest looking one of the 3 available. 100 will be available each day of Comic-Con, with a 2 piece limit per person. They can be scored at booth #4938 in the Toy area or booth #2913 in the Star Wars Pavilion.

Twizzlers: an ode to a heartbreaker

If you know me, you may have seen me looking off into space... drooling... dreaming. What am I thinking about? One thing. Twizzler Twist N Fill. If I was stranded on an island I would only need these to satisfy my every desire. A softer version of a Twizzler with a flavored filling that is kind of like the middle of a nerds rope. Sadly, these have been discontinued for MANY years. I swear to you, to this day I can still remember what they taste like and I salivate. Earlier this year I had to write to Hershey because I couldn't handle the emptiness in my life they had left me with. They responded 2 weeks later to tell me I would never get Twist N Fill ever again but I may like a hershey bar with almonds. WTF. Pain is all I could feel in my sensitive little heart. That is UNTIL this week... while shopping for M&M's I stumbled upon these little treasures... Twizzlers Sweet & Sour.
These are a delicious tangy Twizzler treat. There are 2 flavors Cherry Kick and Citrus Punch. These are like mushy Twizzlers with gooey filling. Only thing that sucks is that they smell like Play-doh, I swear. Oh yeah, and that they taste NOTHING like Twist N Fill. Yes, these are the tasty cousins by marriage of my dear Twist N Fills. It's like Twizzler wants nothing more than to see my tears, and probably steal my ideas, because I sent them that dramatic email a while ago. So basically for now I have found a poor substitute for the void in my life. Hopefully this will encourage less akward moments where you catch me drooling for no reason.

Transformers 2 Limited Edition M&M's

These little treasures have been out for a few weeks now, but i'm just now getting around to mentioning them. Last April we saw the delightful Mint Crisp M&M's limited edition run for Indiana Jones, this year M&M's try to hit a slam dunk again with Transformers 2 limited edition Strawberried Peanut Butter. I'll cut to the chase, these are NOT for everyone. I think they are more for those of us who realize the amazingness of the straight up Peanut Butter M&M's or for HXC candy aficionados. Here's what I found really clever, it IS a "Transforming" M&M. First you get the strawberry flavored chocolate, but moments later it is all peanut butter. I didn't really taste a combination, but some have remarked it reminded them of Peanut Butter and Jelly. Colors inside are yellow, red, and brown, and all have pink 'strawberry' speckling. All of my friends used the word "disgusting" in their descriptions, so I suggest if you wanna try these out you grab a small bag. I liked 'em, wouldn't eat a whole bag in one sitting, but like them enough to enjoy a few. Collectors will enjoy the playful packaging that features 2 new M&M characters dressed as Transformers. You can also get Peanut and Plain Chocolate in dressed up Transformers 2 packaging. If you wanna grab these they're around for the summer and then they are gone.

I also wanna talk about the non-movie related limited edition M&M's released this summer. Last year we got Wild Cherry, this year it's Coconut. I am a die-hard Coconut lover and these little treasures do not dissapoint. Basically it's like a regular chocolate M&M, but the chocolate is infused with Coconut flavor. The first thing that came to mind was the smell and flavor of a Mounds bar (or an Almond Joy sans the Almond), it was also reminiscent of a Macaroon. What makes these interesting is the lack of Coconut texture. It's got the aroma and flavor, but in a smooth little capsule. Colors are green, white, and brown, and have fun little vacation images like palm trees, flowers, or umbrellas where the traditional M imprint would be. I like these A LOT more than the Strawberried Peanut Butter. I finished a whole bag in like 3 minutes. The packaging is really cute, it features Green with a pink flower in her hair and in the distance you can see Yellow caught in a coconut tree. Candy collectors should def snag some of these. They are a bit harder to track down than the Strawberried Peanut Butter, I found mine at a mall candy shop instead of the supermarket. If you are into Coconut or M&M's get these while you can.

LEGO Minifig Business Cards

These have to be the world's coolest business cards. LEGO employees are the only people who can get these rare minifigs. They're custom made to look like you and have names on the front, phone number and email on the back. How sick would it be to hand these out?

District 9

I first heard about this movie last year at Comic-Con, every year an advertising nerd like me is hoping to see a cool campaign plastered all over the place. In 2008, I was fortuitous enough to see 2 that I thought were brilliant. One was True Blood's Tru-blood drink campaign, and the other was for District 9. There were clever signs everywhere; "These Restrooms are for Humans only", "This Seating is for Humans only", "This Building is for Humans only" etc. I loved it. Then when you got outside the convention, there were signs all over downtown San Diego that read "Support Non-Human Rights." It was just so cool and emmersive, I loved it. So recently the teaser trailers debuted for this film. Of course, I was giddy. and let me tell you, they do not disappoint.
The trailer is offered up 2 ways: First the original teaser that depicts an alien with a blurred face, documentary style. Secondly, an unblurred version with subtitles that was released shortly after. The 2 provide viewers with practically the same content, but leave you with a very different emotion afterward. Very cool. Everyone is calling it 'this year's Cloverfield', and I am ok with that. Though this will not be an alien film with shakey handhelds, this is shot documentary style.
1st TRAILER: no spoilers

2nd TRAILER: see the alien and subtitles of what he is saying

The film is Directed by Neill Blomkamp, the director of the original short film "Alive in Joburg"; which is the basis of "District 9".

I absolutely can not wait for this movie. The trailer is perfectly done. It won't be out until August but Comic-Con fans this year will be getting some sneaky peaky goodness as well as a panel from Peter Jackson himself to hype the film pre-release.

Also, here are some of the posters you can see all over the place right now, they are very reminiscent of the signage up all over SDCC last year...

Trailer Park

Whiteout - This movie was supposed to be out like 2 years ago, can't wait to see it, creepy but whatever. It's based on the graphic novel "Whiteout", It's got my favorite actress Kate Beckinsale and it's also got Gabriel Macht from "The Spirit". Looks good.

Michael Moore's Untitled Documentary - Very Funny! This is the teaser to the as yet Untitled upcoming documentary from Michael Moore. Gotta love this dude.

Aliens in the Attic - This looks hilarious. It was originally supposed to be out in February under the title "They Came From Upstairs", but who cares, because this trailer is 10584376 times funnier. It's like "Small Soldiers" meets "*batteries not included".

Sherlock Holmes - who cares if you like the story of Sherlock Holmes, all you need to know is that Robert Downey, Jr. is in this and that Jude Law is playing Watson. Elementary my dear ;p

Mimobots Star Wars Series 4 Part 2

So last month I talked a bit about how Mimoco was coming out with a Series 4 of their popular Mimobots Star Wars line. They had only released 1 design of the 4 that were going to be coming out. It was Darth Maul. Yesterday, they officially announced the rest of the set, and I have to say, it's pretty "EH". It's technically only 3 characters total; Darth Maul, Clone Captain Rex, and Darth Vader. In the spirit of the 10th anniversary of Phantom Menace, I'll say that the Darth Maul one is pretty cool. I still don't like his hands, but what can you do? As for Clone Captain Rex, apparently he is really popular with fans of the Cartoon Network show "The Clone Wars". It is a cool drive, featuring a removable helmet that exposes the character's face, but movie enthusiasts may not be inclined to pick it up. Personally, I don't really care. Finally, there is an overhaul of Darth Vader. Mimoco released a Darth Vader Mimobot in Series 1, back when all the Mimobots had ears. This gave him a more cartoony appearance. It also was limited to 3500 pieces and sold out VERY quickly, so it's hard to come by for newer fans. What really makes this re-vamp interesting is that it is an unmask-able version. You can remove Darth Vader's helmet to reveal a butchered Hayden Christiansen as Anakin Skywalker face. It's also the first chance you can grab Vader as an 8GB drive. As for the missing Fourth character, technically I guess it is there. See, it's actually a chase variant. 1 in every 6 of the Darth Vader Mimobots will have the pale white OG "Return of the Jedi" Anakin face beneath the helmet. I actually like this one a lot more, it's less sucky. So there you have it, If you were interested in some Dark Side of the Force love for your files, then look no further than Series 4. You can snag them now on Mimoco.com, they come in 1GB for $19.95, 2GB for $24.95, 4GB for $34.95, or 8GB for $49.95. One more bit of cool news, it appears that this year at San Diego Comic-Con, Mimoco will offer up a 500 piece limited edition Star Wars Mimobot. This could possibly be the best Darth Vader option yet, it will be a Vader that has Luke's face inside. Luke as he saw himself on Degobah in "The Empire Strikes Back". Pretty cool.

MVPs: Most Valuable Puppets Part 3

So, you are Nike, and only one of your highly hyped shoe gods makes it to the NBA Finals. What are you supposed to do with your very publicized campaign? You make it hilarious. The latest MVPuppets commercials depict a lonely LeBron James left to Babysit lil' Dez on his own while Kobe competes for the Championship. Hilarity ensues.

Kellogg's MMMH... TRESOR

THAT IS SERIOUSLY WHAT IT IS CALLED. "MMMH...TRESOR". Best name for a cereal ever? I think, yes.

I hope Tresor is European-ese-ish for Treasure, because that is what this ish is! The greatest cereal ever made.

The little sister just came back from visiting Switzerland, where my aunt served her this Swiss delight. A Hazelnut Chocolate (aka Nutella) cereal that defies all comprehension.

Ok so here is what I have been able to deduce regarding this gem. It goes by several different names across Europe, and there are 3 types.
There is the flat out "Kellogg's MMMH... Tresor Choco Nougat", which is a crunchy outer cereal that tastes like "POPS" with a Nutella filling middle. It is kind of reminiscent of those Koala bear cookies all us Diamond Bar kids used to eat. And then there is "Kellogg's MMMH... Tresor Choco Toffie" which has a chocolate caramel filling. And in some countries there are "Kellogg's Tresor Brownie" which is an all Chocolate variation. In Germany the cereals are attached to the "Frosties" and "Smacks" brands, so the already insanely long title of the cereals become "Kellogg's Smacks MMMH... Tresor Choco Nougat" and "Kellogg's Frosties MMMH... Tresor Choco Toffie". In France they sell as "Kellogg's Smacks Choco Tresor". The Frosties Caramel one has taken off and is also known as "Kellogg's Frosties Tresor GRRR" and "Frosties GRRR". Other incarnations are "Kellogg's Tresor Chocolat Noisettes", "Kellogg's Tresor Chocolat Caramel", and "Kellogg's Tresor Test Au Chocolat". Another incarnation from Italy is "Kellogg's Coco Pops Choco Tresor" which features the Coco Pops Monkey on the front. There could be one that has a milk chocolate filling too called "Kellogg's Tresor Melkchocolat", but the internet is kinda of confusing in all these other languages. The point is, whatever it is called, you need to be able to identify it so you can indulge in it's sugary delight. It is Manna, trust me, god said so in my heart while I ate it.

Sorry Blog, I've been playing with mah new PSP

DOOOD.
Sorry I haven't blogged in a hot minute. I been busy trying to get my video game grind on. All those beautiful games shown off during E3 had me longing for some game time. So basically, it took me some time, but I finally tracked down a video game store relatively close by that sells imported video game consoles. Thanks to the greatness that is YELP!, I was able to track down Japan Video Games in Temple City, CA. This place was freaking awesome. Practically any rare or import console or game you are looking for, they have it. Red PS2's? Bathing Ape Limited Edition Nintendo DS'? They've got em. The PSP-3000 Carnival Colors, oh yes, they've got them.
I was so insanely stoked to go to this place. I had a horrible headache, and I didn't even mind it because I was having so much fun in this place. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. It was fantastic.
I took a picture of just a fraction of the handheld's they had for sale.
Crazy right?

So, on to the goodies. I got the Vibrant Blue PSP-3000 from Japan. A few months ago Sony released 4 Carnival Colors to the Japanese Market; Vibrant Blue, Radiant Red, Bright Yellow, and Spirited Green. They are SOOO Sick.

Ya, they are pretty fresh. And the Japanese aren't the only cool kids who get funky colored PSPs, nope the Europeans have their own batch. Pearl White, Mystic Silver, and Radiant Red. Later this month the Vibrant Blue will also be available to the Euros as a bundled set with the game "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince". Plus they all can pick up basic Black.

The only disadvantage to rocking an imported PSP is that you lose the capability to play US region UMD movies. I won't be playing movies on mine really, so I didn't see a problem. Actually, I lied, there is one more disadvantage; The Price. A fancy colored import PSP is gonna set you back about $250 plus tax. Not so bad compared to the $280 price tag it holds if you snag it IN Japan though. (The best deal I found was $230 at HyperGameAction.com). Of course, stateside a plain PSP is only $169, so it is a significant consideration to be made if you are looking to grab one.
Other things to consider? Well if you absolutely must be watching US movies or you want a lighter price tag, BUT you can't stand "funeral" black... then you should be holding out until August 4, 09. That is when the Lilac PSP will hit US game stores. The Lilac PSP will be bundled with the game "Hannah Montana Rock Out The Show", a UMD with episodes of Hannah Montana, stickers, downloadable themes, and a 2GB memory stick, all for $199.

Aside from Piano Black and Mystic Silver, this will be the first colored PSP-3000 available stateside, kinda cool. It's a nice color, the bundle is worth picking up regardless of whether you like the game or not. It's a fun way to show off your personality while gaming.

Anyways, I think everyone should get these so we can play "LittleBigPlanet" together when it comes out this December. Until then, I'll be slaying Centaurs in "God of War"...

Twilight: New Moon Trailer

a) looks like these movies will still be made on a budget of $.25
b) you NEVER give away the big surprise shot in the trailer, somebody should send this information to the editor of the trailer
c) ruining books and cinema for generations to come
d) i'm still gonna see it. curse you Stephanie Meyers!!

E3 09 Day 1

Treasures were in abundance today at E3: The Electronic Entertainment Expo. Here are some of the amazing trailers shown throughout the day...

Left 4 Dead 2
Trailer looks sooo sick

Halo 3: ODST
This time around you aren't a Spartan, you're a ODST. Takes place 3 years before Halo 3. Looks badass.

Halo: Reach (aka Halo 4)
Just a teaser, but cool to see.

Metal Gear Solid: Rising
Another teaser, but cool to see MGS finally on Xbox 360.

Final Fantasy XIII (demo)
Another first timer on Xbox 360, looks sick.

Alan Wake
Cool new title. Scary thriller about a writer whos book is coming true while out near a mysterious lake.

Tom Clancy - Splinter Cell: Conviction (Walkthrough)
Complete revamp for Splinter Cell that introduces sweet new skills like mark+execute, looks intense.

Brutal Legend
This will make you want to play video games if you don't already. Stars Jack Black and a plethora of Rock and Roll legends, will take you into a world you've only ever dreamed of.

Star Wars The Old Republic MMO
Gonna put World of Warcraft in it's place. This looks soo bombzilla.

Academy of Champions: Football
Great looking Soccer game that seems like Harry Potter meets Fifa. Best animation, in my opinion, shown today at E3.

Rabbids Go Home
The next Raving Rabbids title, hilarious concept. Basically the Rabbids want to go to the moon, so they have to build a pile of junk to climb up there, of course your task is to collect the junk.

DJ Hero
Guitar Hero with Turntables and sweet beats.

By the way, by far the craziest ish discussed today was Microsoft's Project Natal. Codename for Xbox's in-development controller-less play style. It uses scanners, facial, and vocal recognition, to allow users freedom to play Xbox without a controller. It will work with the current 360 as well as future consoles. It is seriously the way of the future. It will lead to our demise, I've seen the Terminator, trust me. They also showcased a program called Milo that will talk to you and can recognize emotions and recreate emotion, as well as bring items from the real world into the game. Freaky. Loook...
Here's how the controls function

Here is the freaky Milo kid that you can hang out with if you have no friends

No word on when this will be available for purchase.

Also later in the day at the Ubisoft press conference, Ubisoft announced that they had developed a fitness game titled "Your Shape" that will utilize a similar motion tracking camera scanner to control the game. This camera will connect to the USB on the Wii, and will be included with the game this holiday season. It will essentially be a less epic version of the Project Natal, but at least we can put a release date on this type of technology.

Lego Rock Band

AMAZINGGG

Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4

Gotta love these Lego games, now we can expect a sweet Harry Potter edition.
