Watching The Detectives

Cillian Murphy AND Lucy Liu in a movie I'd never heard of, OF COURSE I'm gonna watch it!
As I put "Watching The Detectives" in the DVD player, I began to recognize a couple of names in the opening credits; Steve Lemme, Eric Stolhanske, Director Paul Soter. This movie is from a couple of the Broken Lizard guys! Broken Lizard is the amazing comedy team behind "Beerfest" and "Super Troopers", I'm a huge fan so this epiphany totally made my night. The movie was really good. It's about this video store owner/movie aficionado who meets a girl that prefers living an adventurous life over watching one. Madness ensues. Love the cast, love the story, love the look. At the end of it all that was running through my head was "modern day film noir!" It's definitely a movie that appealed to me. Rent it next week!

Meet The Spartans

Not as horrible as the other parody crap fests that have been out recently (i.e Epic Movie, Delta Farce). "Meet The Spartans" is different from the recent parodies in that it actually follows the storyline of "300", which kind of makes it easier to watch the whole thing. Most of the comedy is drawn from the recent game show craze TV has been facing, and the rest of the jokes are typically disjointed like those made in "Epic Movie". After the Wayan Bros. left the Scary Movie franchise behind, a team of horribly un funny writers have been struggling to recapture the humor of the parody genre. This movie is just another dumb comedy trying to get your buck at the box office. If you are into the recent string of crappy parodies this is one of the better ones and you may find it funny. Personally I don't get the point of putting money into a comedy that is only funny for the five minutes that the jokes are relevant, but I suppose someone out there is watching cuz they keep making them (all starring Carmen Electra, strangely). There were a few highlights to this movie though, for one, what I mentioned about the storyline following "300". This kept the film interesting, particularly to "300" fans. Secondly, the acting is a notch above other parodies. King Leonides is played by a relative unknown Sean Maguire who has GREAT comedic timing and is perfect in the role, Kevin Sorbo aka Hercules is the Captain of the King's army and very funny, and finally Carmen Electra is given a role that requires substantial lines... she is actually a pretty good actress. Generally she is seen running in underwear for a moment, but her role as the Queen of Sparta gives her a chance to actually act (along with her stereotypical sex bomb moments) and it is just surprisingly good. Also exciting to me, personally, one of the main Spartan soldiers is this guy Alicia and I used to hang out with at Universal Studios. Chris Gann, who's also credited as a stuntman in the movie, played the Mariner at Universal's Waterworld show... he's one of the coolest guys & I never forgot him. So it's very cool to be watching a movie and see him all of a sudden on screen. Oh I almost forgot, but the actress who plays Britney Spears also plays Paris Hilton and Paula Abdul... its cool to see someone play 3 characters in a film and not even realize it until you see the credits, check out the poster Paris & Britney both = actress Nicole Parker. The acting is really good for a parody film and that is probably what encouraged my favorable review. Otherwise, the jokes are pretty awful and the weird current nods to pop culture are annoying. OH I can't believe I almost forgot, several times this movie makes references to puns that were deleted from the final cut (just like Epic Movie did), and the DVD has a whole special on a Dane Cook parody which was not in the final cut, so that is also pretty annoying. Anyways, thats all I have to say about it really. Not necessarily my cup of tea.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

This movie was AMAZING!!
SO GOOD! When the first movie came out I thought it was gonna be a crappy Lord of the Rings wannabe, but I went to see it and was blown away. I hoped they would do a sequel and when the trailer came out I almost pee'd my pants from joy. Then I started to feel bad, cuz whenever you have high hopes for a film you can almost guarantee disappointment. Fortunately, Disney and Walden Media really pulled this movie together and kept me on the edge of my seat. It was just straight up awesomeness, I loved it. My only one issue was that the heavy Christian overtone was a lot more prominent then it was in the first film, not due to religion, but that I found it very distracting to keep thinking "Hey that Lion is JUST LIKE Jesus, weird!" It withdrew me from parts of the story, but otherwise I feel this is one of the best movies of the year. If you're into the books or a fan of the first film you will be very pleased. In particular, this film had a standout soundtrack. The score is beautifully composed by Harry Gregson-Williams who scored the first film. In addition there is a great song by Regina Spektor titled "The Call" and one by Switchfoot called "This is Home", these 2 songs convinced me that I had to go pick up the CD. All in all a brilliant film, I am so happy I just got to watch this. YAY for me.

Trailer Trash: The Mummy - Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Here's the trailer for the third Mummy flick starring Brendan Frasier and Jet Li out August 2008. When I heard about this I thought it was probably a bad idea, but the trailer just convinced me I'm gonna have to go see this.

Strange Wilderness

Hmm. Well. I can't make up my mind on this one, it has some HYSTERICAL moments in it. But the plot itself is kinda... dumb. Not in a good funny dumb way, more like a waste of time way. The trailer shows off the funniest parts (check it out to see the "shark scene" which brought me to tears laughing). I really enjoyed the parts involving the show, the animal footage with ridiculous commentary, but the movie is more of a quest film than a funny animal flick. The storyline follows the fictional film makers on their search for Bigfoot, kind of like "Dude, Where's my Car?" but with Bigfoot instead of a car (and less funny). That's a topic that has been covered so many times, it just isn't very interesting. In fact, I recently reviewed another Sasquatch movie starring Justin Long, and he's in this one too playing a vaguely similar character. No more bigfoot movies already unless it is really really funny! The movie also stars Steve Zahn, Jonah Hill, Allen Covert, Kevin Heffernan, and Peter Dante. It has a lot of the guys who did the HILARIOUS "Grandma's Boy", so I had some high hopes for it. I'm not saying it is horrible but it isn't gonna be some epic comedy that goes down in history for great laughs. Much of its humor seemed stifled. I watched a few of the DVDs special features and there is a scene that they show being improv'd over and over again, alot of the jokes were very funny and original, but for some reason the joke used in the final cut was underwhelming. This movie seems to have lost much of its humor through poor editing. Check out deleted scenes and you will see a great clip about Beavers... "Beavers, or some other animal, have 4 stomachs." This movie was on to something though and I think that Comedy Central or HBO should look into picking up a show about Animals with funny commentary because I would definitely watch that. The DVD will be out Tuesday watch it and see how you feel. Here's the trailer, enjoy the silly animals!

Yupon's One Coin Mini Figures by KOTOBUKIYA

This month's issue of ToyFare Magazine had a nice article about all the cool Indiana Jones toys coming out for the new movie. It covered some fun stuff like the Mighty Muggs urban vinyl figures and the Mr. Potato Head: Taters of the Lost Ark edition.

Most interesting though was this mention of Kotobukiya Toys' scheduled Indy toy assault; they will be releasing statues in their ArtFX line, ArtFX theater line, and their One-Coin Line designed by Japanese Illustrator Yupon, which will be available exclusively in Japan (and hopefully at Comic-Con this year!).

There are to be 5 known figures and 3 secret characters, they will stand at 5cm, and will be blindboxed... meaning you'll have to buy a box of 10 to guarantee finding all figures. These are scheduled for release in late June and boxes are already being preordered online for about $60 bucks. According to Kotobukiya's website there will be 2 Indy figures, a Henry Jones figure, a Marion Ravenwood figure, a Mola Ram figure, and 3 secret figures (2 of which look like Shia LaBeouf's character and Cate Blanchett's character)

Yupon has designed 2 other lines for Kotobukiya's One-Coin figures, one for the video game "Lamento: Beyond the Void"

and another for a visual novel game (I don't know what that is) called "Togainu`s Blood"

Also keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming MARVEL line featuring: Dr. Doom, Nick Fury, Spidey, The Thing, Phoenix, an A.I.M. Agent, and 2 mystery figures.

These are really cool looking. I'm gonna try to at least snag the Marion Ravenwood one, look how cute the monkey is!! Poor guy, all he wanted was a date.

(HEY! Anyone who was interested in those Mighty Mugg figures, here's a link to a very cool blog someone did that has a photo checklist of all the ones that are currently out or in production. ALSO! he mentions that there will be some SD Comic-Con exclusives YAY!!)

You Know What Really Grinds My Gears??

Poor service at Nail Salons! It sucks. Today Scarlett and I went to get our nails done, but first she needed to go to Wal-Mart to get some shoes.. Oh that is a story in its own right... ok, quickly, the shoes...
I bought these sandals by Dolce Vita for $72 at Nordstrom:

I bought these today at Wal-Mart for $9.99:

They are EXACTLY the same. It kind of made me sad. I hate Wal-Mart and giving my money to evil corporate empires, but I hate getting ripped off more. Not cool Nordstrom, not cool. So anyways if you want cute sandals, Wal-Mart has cool Dolce Vita knockoffs for $10 in black, white, silver, and gold. (I will admit however that the Dolce Vita ones can be worn and walked in ALL day, not sure about the other ones but whatev they are hella cute)

OK BACK TO THE STORY. So, we were gonna go down the street and get our nails done, but Scarlett noticed that there was a nail salon within Hell-Mart with pretty good prices. We decided to check it out, the pedicures were fine, but then the ladies played that trick on me where they get you to pay BEFORE they do your manicure, and that way regardless of your tip they can just do a shitty job. So my nails were done all half ass and disappointing. As I went to change into my new cheapy cheap sandals I leaned back in my chair, which pushed into another chair, which pushed into a manicure station (that desk where they do your nails) which apparently was not secured properly to the floor because without much effort that desk went toppling down on the women sitting behind it. All sorts of liquids went flying and crashing everywhere, BUT I was still pissed that my nails looked all jacked, so when the innocent women covered in liquid looked at me to clean up the mess I turned to Scarlett and told her it was too bad they put all the chairs so close together. Then I gave the lady that look like "Well get to work, you got alot to clean up here" which obviously didn't go over too well because she began to mumble in Asianese and then gave Scarlett that f-u stare. So then Scarlett decided not to tip them, but we were just really pissed that the screwed up our nails, so we really didn't care that they had to clean up a huge mess. I don't know why, but I feel like if your job is to provide service you shouldn't be so demanding of tips. Tips will come if you provide a good service or I don't believe I should be obligated to pay them. Do your job well and you will earn what you deserve, be a douche bag and you won't get anything. Really... no more tips from me for crappy service, you are not entitled to 15% more. Do your freaking job. Simple.

Trailer Trash: The Spirit

New Frank Miller movie ("300", "Sin City") based on Will Eisner's classic newspaper comic "The Spirit" about a crime fighting vigilante.
Can't...wait...

Trailer Trash: The X Files- I Want To Believe

New Trailer for "The X-Files: I Want To Believe" the sequel to "The X-Files Movie", which I watched for the first time last week and was really impressed by. It was pretty good. I never really watched the show except for one episode that I've seen like 10 times (its a parody of COPS where Mulder and Skully take a camera crew with them on an investigation, kind of like Cloverfield but all 90's and with hookers). So they are finally doing a sequel and they are saying you can watch this one on its own, without any knowledge of the show or first flick. Which is good for non fans like me.I think this is just a teaser, so we'll have to see if a longer trailer with more details eventually comes out. I think I'll just go watch this cuz the first one was good. Check it out.

This episode was so funny...

sad, "Speed Racer" reviews are coming in and they aren't so favorable... USA Today gave the film 1 1/2 stars, rotten tomatoes gives it a 36%, yahoo is giving it an F, and an ap review of it said "In adapting the 1960s Japanese anime television series, writer-directors Larry and Andy Wachowski have created a noisy, overlong, mind-numbing extravaganza that seems tailor-made for nobody but themselves and their twisted sensibilities. At two hours and 15 minutes, it's way too long for little kids, the only ones for whom this explosion at a crayon factory would seem even vaguely entertaining. Adults seeking the nostalgia of their own childhood will just be disappointed, because Speed Racer the movie bears little resemblance to Speed Racer the TV cartoon." Alot of reviews are that the Wachowski bros. (the guys behind the "Matrix" trilogy) made this film simply to indulge themselves. Me personally, I'm just not that into movies that are COMPLETELY shot in front of a green screen (Star Wars Ep 3, blegh) So I could really care less about this movie. I know some of my friends are dying to see this... so I will wait to actually watch this (on DVD) before I really give my formal critique of it. Anyone who is interested can check out the first 7 minutes of the film here:

Digital Copies SUCK (for now)

Ok, so the special edition "Harry Potter & the Order of the Pheonix" comes with a bonus digital copy for your 'portable media device'. I figured hell I've had this DVD for a while, let me throw it on the 'ole ipod. NO! Warner Bros. says I can't do that! See apparently all these Digital Copies are only for PCs and Window's media compatible gaypods. Hence, I decided to go online and figure out what was going on with all this nonsense and I came across this article on TVguide.com that sums up the status of these Digital copies pretty nicely. I suppose it isn't Warner Bros fault that they are incredibly behind the curve, I mean it was only recently that the company decided they would commit to Blu-Ray Discs over HD DVDs. They just don't know any better. But really it is that this whole Digital format is taking baby steps across the industry, hopefully with some experience they'll finally come across the foresight to actually make these Mac and IPod compatible, I mean it really is a no brainer. Fox and Lionsgate have already started putting out IPod ready versions, so cmon other guys. I want to watch HARRY POTTER!!!

APRIL 29TH 2008- A few months ago we took a hands-on look at Digital Copy with "Family Guy - Blue Harvest". The show's Star Wars parody came to DVD with an extra disc containing a digital file version of the feature which easily copied to a Video iPod, a PC, or a PC-file compatible device (like an Archos media player). It's a handy way to get a "portable" copy of the DVD you've bought, so you don't have to buy it all over again via download to the hard drive of your laptop or a portable video device. But what else is on the way for Digital Copy?

· Fox has the biggest support for on-disc Digital Copy so far. Last November's 2-DVD version of "Live Free or Die Hard" was first. The Blu-ray version didn't have it, though, and it didn't support iPod copies yet either (leaving iPod users AND Macintosh users out in the cold). But this would quickly and easily transfer a nice-looking copy of the film's unrated cut to a PC or compatible device.

·
Fox then expanded to include iPod/Mac support with "Family Guy - Blue Harvest". With their next title, "Hitman", Fox not only included a Digital Copy on a DVD-ROM disc with the Special Edition (SE) DVD release, but with the Blu-ray release, too. And earlier this month, Fox continued with two more: "Juno" and "Alien vs. Predator: Requiem". Each had a Digital Copy version included with their SE DVDs and their Blu-ray releases. Fox's next Digital Copy is going to be on the "Jumper" SE DVD and Blu-ray, due June 10th.

· If any studio has been supporting the idea longer than Fox, it's Warner...
The first was "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", and a little over a month ago they bowed their second Digital Copy title with Will Smith's "I Am Legend". No word yet on what's next. Note that these were only made available with certain DVD versions; if you bought those films on Blu-ray Disc (like myself) you didn't get the Digital Copy. And
Warner only has PC file support.

· Sony debuts their first titles today that support Digital Copy, with a pair of straight-to-DVD offerings: "Hero Wanted" with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Ray Liotta, and Dolph Lundgren's "Diamond Dogs".
Sony's Digital Copy doesn't support iPod/Mac, but it does support Sony's PSP videogame unit as well as PCs. Sony has big plans for more PC-&-PSP Digital Copies, with upcoming titles including May releases of the Andy Serkis thriller "The Cottage" and Samuel L. Jackson in "Cleaner", June's release of Jason Behr in "The Tattooist", and a ton of July titles: the 2-DVD SE version of Sony's recent hit "Vantage Point", the Brian Austin Green thriller "Impact Point", the Jesse Metcalf starrer "Insanitarium" and both the DVD and Blu-ray versions of "Starship Troopers 3: Marauder".

·
Universal recently jumped into the party with this past February's release of "American Gangster". Their Digital Copy provided an unrated edit of the film, but in PC file only, and only if you purchased the 3-Disc Collector's Edition DVD. Last week Universal announced the next two titles will be the July releases of Brendan Fraser's "The Mummy" and "The Mummy Returns", both coming July 8th on 2-DVD SE's. Universal recently announced Blu-ray versions of "The Mummy", "The Mummy Returns" and spin-off film "The Scorpian King" for July 22nd; will the Digital Copies be included with the Blu-ray Disc format releases? I hope so, but the studio hasn't given any word on that just yet!

· The most recent studio to announce Digital Copy support is Lionsgate. Their first title will be the May 27th release of the fourth "Rambo" film: a Digital Copy will be included with the Blu-ray as well as the 2-DVD SE. The same is true for their June 3rd debut of The Eye, starring Jessica Alba and Goran Visnjic. Like Fox,
Lionsgate is supporting Video iPod and Macintosh users, along with PCs and compatible devices.

By my count that's 22 titles which support Digital Copy so far... either already out or the way...

the best part? That you still get your own packaged media version of the film, on a disc back in your house. Hard drives crash, and portable devices get lost or stolen, and digital data can get corrupted or erased for various reasons. But with Digital Copy, you've always got your shiny optical disc waiting for you when you get home...just in case. What's not to love? — David Lambert

Fox and Lionsgate have already started putting out IPod ready versions, so cmon other guys. I wanna watch mini HARRY POTTER!!!

Trailer Trash: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

New full length trailer...

Lost Boys 2 will be straight to DVD

"Lost Boys 2: The Tribe" will officially be coming to DVD this July. Sorry my dear Corey fans, guess the movie just doesn't scream theatrical release to Warner Bros. and from the looks of the DVD cover art they're opinions are justified. I really wanted this movie to be great, but "The Lost Boys" is just NOT a movie that needs a sequel. The trailer looks like a let down, this artwork looks like a let down... dissapointment.

Grab Bag

3D Mania
Wtf? 3D Mania is sweeping Hollywood, what decade are we living in that directors think we wanna watch a whole movie in 3D? It begins in July with "Journey to the Center of the Earth: 3D". James Cameron's new project "Avatar" will be in 3D also when it is released in December. My Love, Karl Urban, will star in "Relentless" a 3D action adventure set to start filming in September. "Horrorween", "Final Destination 4", and "The Stewardesses" will all come out in 2009 in 3D as well. Thoughts? I'm thinking... HORRIBLE IDEA!!

La La La Land of the Lost!
Scarfish! They are coming out with a "Land Of The Lost" MOVIE!! Its gonna maybe suck cuz Will Ferrell is in it. But who cares, maybe now we can get the 90's TV remake FINALLY released on DVD. YAY!!

And it begins...

Anyone who was on the internet last year trying to solve the mystery of "Cloverfield" will tell you that the online madness all began with a photo. I am very very excited to share that 2 photos emerged online this week setting up anticipation for "Cloverfield 2". Ya thats right, the sequel is set to release in 2009, so the hype is beginning now. Right now it appears these are shots from the sea bed during the time the Tagruato Corporation was drilling for oil and disturbed the creatures.

Trailer Trash: The Dark Knight

Newest trailer came out yesterday, finally we get to see Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent

Harold & Kumar: Escape From Guantanamo Bay

So Kathy and I spent last week watching "Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle" over and over again. That has to be one of the best movies of all time, hands down. Well you can imagine we were VERY excited to catch the new one. Kathy spent the whole week re-enacting the terrorist scene from the preview, its pretty funny when she does it. Anyhow, we saw it last night. EH. It was funny, but NOWHERE near as funny as the original. The script itself is the problem, the boys get into CRAZY situations but not as crazy as the last scenarios they were put through. I miss the cheetah! It's something hard to explain when you laugh hysterically through a movie, but leave thinking that it could have been way better. Plus, the ending was a little dumb. I don't know. If you loved the first one, i'm sure you will watch this one regardless of what I say... so go for it, its funny. If you do go watch, stick around past the end credits.

Update: I didn't know this, but originally this was going to be released straight to video, that may explain its overall lack of amazingness compared to the original.

Baby Mama

Love Love Love Tina Fey, Love Amy Poehler, Love Greg Kinnear. BUT this movie was a bit underwhelming, EVERY funny moment has been disclosed in its advertising. I hate when that happens. The story is funny and a nice idea, but nothing we haven't seen already. I suppose the fact that my friends and I were quoting lines from the trailer all week led to our disappointment when we realized that was all the humor the movie had to offer. We were just hoping for MORE. Basically, my review is this, if you haven't seen any trailers for this yet go ahead and see it, you'll probably get a real kick out of it. If you think it is gonna be funny from what you've seen on TV, don't go, you'll just bum yourself out.

In theaters Now.

Trailer Trash: The Happening

New movie from director M. Night Shyamalan starring Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel, and John Leguizamo. I know most people hate M. Night's movies but I am a dork and love the "What A Twist!" endings. This hits theaters June 13th...(Friday the 13th, spooky). I will probably catch this over "The Incredible Hulk".

Mad Money

"Mad Money" is a comedy starring Diane Keaton, Katie Holmes, and Queen Latifah. The 3 ladies work at the Federal Reserve and come up with a way to sneak out with some cash. It is an interesting concept and the comedic timing is wonderfully played, but this ain't no "Oceans Eleven" so it really lacks that sensation that these women have actually come up with a plan that is truly clever. If you like female comedians that is really the only draw of this film. If you are looking for a good heist film, this one doesn't completely deliver that. You can check it out on DVD May 13th.

High School Musical 3: Senior Year

Get Ready... October 24th!!

Over Her Dead Body

"Over Her Dead Body" is a romantic comedy starring Eva Longoria, Paul Rudd, and Jason Biggs. Its about a lady who dies, and doesn't want her fiance to move on and date other people. So she begins to haunt the next woman who steps into his life. Sounds RETARDED! But, actually it wasn't too bad. It has some really strange moments near the end, but it doesn't suck. It's a movie you should watch if it comes up free on your TV or something, but no need to go out of your way and rent it... or actually buy it. I don't really know too many people who ever really enjoy strange romantic comedies like this, or Paul Rudd's last romantic comedy "I Could Never Be Your Woman"... but I suppose if you do, it's worth watching. Here's the trailer, you decide...

"Over Her Dead Body" hits DVD May 6th

Iron Man

Man! This movie was so bomb!! I hadn't been interested in seeing it, but the overwhelmingly good reviews convinced me to give it a chance. Alicia and I went to go see it at the drive in, which made the experience that much better, movies are always better on giant screens. Robert Downey, Jr. epitomizes Tony Stark perfectly; a cocky, arrogant, womanizing, billionaire. I had my doubts but he totally rocked it. The suit looked gorgeous on screen, as did all of the special effects. The music is also something that really stands out, you can't help but notice really good choices were made when selecting the soundtrack. The rock beats help keep the pace of the movie strong and set a nice aesthetic. And Terrence Howard is just perfect as Jim Rhodes (by the way, keep an eye out for his 'War Machine' suit in the flick accompanied by a witty, foreshadowing one liner). The only performance I had any issue with was Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, maybe cuz I'm not a fan of hers, or maybe cuz she played the character a bit too frazzled. Either way, I didn't get it. All of that means nothing though if you stay until past the end credits and are lucky enough to catch Samuel L. Jackson show up as Nick Fury, definitely my favorite part. The story is PACKED with more action then we've been allowed in recent superhero flicks (remember that atrocity Spiderman 3, or XMen: The Last Stand... garbage!), so Iron Man is a real breath of fresh air. I am highly recommending this movie if you are a fan of high octane comic flicks. It was such a blast. BRING ON THE SEQUEL!

"Iron Man" is in theaters NOW.

Amazing Advertising: AT&T GO Phone

AT&T has just began airing one of the greatest commercials I think I've ever seen. It's called "Paradise" and it stars Meat Loaf and Tiffany as the parents of a kid who wants a GO Phone. I LOVE Meat Loaf, and I'm stoked he is singing on screen once again (Tenacious D!!). So enjoy it, and maybe go buy yourself a GO Phone...

Playboys

Alicia and I went to an advance screening of some movie called "Playboys" last night. All we knew was that it was for fans of movies like "Forgetting Sarah Marshall", we figured it'd be perfect for us. When we got there we started talking to some people who told us the movie was created by "The Whitest Kids U'know" a comedy group who have a show on FUSE. Now, thanks to time warner cable, I don't get FUSE... so I had NO idea what they were talking about. All I had was this synopsis: "Playboys tells the story of a young man who awakens from a four-year coma to hear that his once virginal high-school sweetheart has since become a centerfold in one of the world's most famous men's magazines. He and his sex-crazed best friend decide to take a cross- country road trip in order to crash a party at the magazine's legendary mansion headquarters and win back the girl."

We sat down, watched the movie, ate some Nachos. OH MY GOD, this was one of the FUNNIEST movies I've ever seen. Its basically a buddy adventure a la "Harold and Kumar". These 2 guys though, Zach Cregger and Trevor Moore, are just amazingly funny. I can't wait for the movie to come out in theaters so I can watch it again. Just wanted to let you know its definitely something to see when it finally is released. There isn't a poster or trailer yet since we were the first group of people to see it, so here is a clip from the TV show to check out, pretty funny. Check it out.

Flight Of The Conchords

OK Finally, "Flight of the Conchords" first full length self titled album hit shelves this week. I love this band, they are incredibly creative and HILARIOUS. If you've never heard of them, they are a comedy duo from New Zealand that have their own show on HBO. The show is winning endless praise for its originality, but I personally enjoy their standup show more. Thats why I've been enjoying their EP "The Distant Future" and couldn't wait for this to come out. So, how was it you ask? DISAPPOINTING. There are no new tracks! This is all a recycled, re-packaged group of oldies. Granted, this is the first time most of these songs have been on CD, but why nothing new to get us excited for the new season? Maybe I'm a little bitter that both of their upcoming shows in LA are sold out, or that I just found out they played a free gig at Amoeba in Hollywood 7 days ago that I missed. Really though, I think it is that this CD was getting a lot of hype for taking a long time to put together, when all they were doing was recording old tracks... and a few are off their EP. I dunno, just kinda a let down. Feels like a horrible marketing scheme if you ask me. So thats my 2 cents, If you already have the EP or Season 1 of the show on DVD, don't waste your money... spend it on "The Whitest Kids U'know" instead.
